Iquitos

To the north east of the city of Iquitos in the district of San Juan, province of Maynas.

Located on the banks of the mighty Amazon River, the city of Iquitos, capital of Loreto, is a place of contrasts; on one hand the wonderful landscape of the Amazon rainforest and the other, the movement of its bustling streets. With a population of 150,484 inhabitants, Iquitos is located in the northern jungle and is flanked by the mouths of the rivers Nanay and Itaya and can only be accessed by air or river. Iquitos economy is based, not only on tourism but in trade and industrialization on certain products such as wood, fish and poultry farms; in addition to having an oil refinery. The tourist attractions include the Eiffel House, designed by the famous French architect, and the houses with Moorish features located near downtown. To plunge yourself in the magic of the jungle, the river can be traveled for several hours to reach the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve,
